About My Sessions - FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1.You only offer 1-hour a week per subject. How will this help my child?
My lessons are designed to supplement your homeschool timetable with focused, expert-led teaching. Each session covers key concepts efficiently, using interactive methods and breakout rooms for assessment and practice. Many families find that a well-structured hour of targeted support boosts understanding and confidence without overwhelming their schedule.
2. How do you accommodate different learning styles?
I understand that every student learns differently. My lessons incorporate a mix of visual explanations, interactive problem-solving, discussions, and hands-on activities where possible. I also use whiteboard tools and step-by-step worked examples to ensure concepts are clear.
3. My child is neurodivergent. Will they be supported in your lessons?
Absolutely. My approach is flexible, and I aim to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Students can participate in ways that feel comfortable to them, whether through verbal contributions, chat responses, or written work. If your child has specific learning needs, feel free to reach out so we can discuss how best to support them.
4. Do students have to participate actively in every lesson?
No, participation is flexible. Students can engage as much or as little as they feel comfortable. Some may prefer to observe at first, while others may enjoy answering questions or working through problems out loud. All students are encouraged to participate in a way that suits their learning style.
5. How do you assess student understanding during lessons?
I use breakout rooms for targeted assessment for learning. This allows me to check understanding in smaller groups or one-on-one without putting students on the spot in front of the whole class. It also provides a quieter space for students who may need extra support or time to process information.
6. Can my child use assistive technology or additional resources during lessons?
Yes! Students are welcome to use assistive tools such as speech-to-text software, screen readers, or coloured overlays if they find them helpful. I also provide resources and worksheets that can be adapted to individual needs.
7. What if my child struggles with focus in online lessons?
I design my lessons to be engaging and interactive, with regular breaks and varied activities. If attention is a concern, I recommend a quiet learning environment, headphones, and small adjustments like fidget tools or note-taking strategies. Parents are welcome to discuss any additional support their child may need.
